Loyal Supporters

Dogs have an unseen connection that draws them to us. They offer us faithfulness, support, and trueheartedness even before they are born. You can see it in their eyes as they study your facial expressions, as they rest by your side, as they act excited every time you come home, whether it has been 10 minutes or three weeks. They are our strongest supporters.

We need to be our dogs strongest supporters, too. We need to forgive them for having an accident in the house, no matter how many times it takes before they learn to use the outside. We need to stand by them and figure out why they felt a need to snap at a friend that came to visit. And we need to make a commitment to take them with us when we move, to keep them as part of the family even when the children arrive, provide for them if something were to happen to us, and to be there for them until the end no matter what life brings us.
